Pick My Palette: March Palette Review & April Palette Reveal

Hey there, Beauties!! I hope that you all had a great Easter weekend if you celebrate the holiday, or at least had a great long weekend. Today, we’re going to discuss how I survived using a mostly metallic palette throughout the month of March, and what palette you guys chose for me to use for the entire month of April. So, if you’re interested in getting the nitty gritty on last month’s palette, and checking out April’s palette, just keep on reading.

I have enough eyeshadow palettes at this stage of the game that I end up either forgetting about or not even using some of the palettes in my collection. Okay, okay. Let me be real with you guys. A majority of the eyeshadow palettes in my collection are being neglected. That’s what makes this Pick My Palette series so much fun for me. It’s giving me a lot more time with my palettes, as well as helping me realize what I’m into and what I’m not. I discovered this for real after using the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette all last month. The struggle was pretty real, as you’ll read in a second. Hopefully, April will be a little less stressful.

Enough building up, let’s get into it!

Okay so, last month you guys chose the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Bar as the palette I would use for the entire month of March. Off top, let me just tell you how I shouldn’t have put it in the running to begin with. Not because the palette is trash, but because I should’ve thought out better how I would work metallics into my looks every single day, especially with only four mattes. So, I definitely had to pull in other palettes to kind of help this one out.

Let’s weigh the pros and cons of this palette based on my experience using it for the last month.

PROS: The metallic shades are super pigmented. They last all day on the eyes without fading. The four matte shades help create quick looks and are just as pigmented as the metallics. You get a wide variety of colors with the metallics that you can use for everyday looks as well as turnt up evening looks. The packaging is literally EVERYTHING.

CONS: The fallout is SUPER DUPER REAL with this palette. Even when you wet your brush, there’s going to be fallout that isn’t always easy to brush away with a fluffy brush. Some shades will travel from my lid to my crease or higher throughout the course of the day. Some of the shadows got hard pan after just one or two uses, so I had to dig the brush in just to get some on my brush.

So, when I take into account the good and bad of the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette, I stand by my original review that you can check out here, but with a few footnotes. While I still think this is a great palette to have in your collection, the fallout is something to note and be mindful of. Also, the four mattes are good, but you’re going to need other mattes to create different looks. So, if you’ve been looking to pick this palette up, I still recommend it. Just be advised that you may get some hard pan on some of the shades and fallot from all of them.

Now that we’ve talked about March’s palette, let’s get into what I’ll be using for April.

Well, the poll ended in a tie, so I’ll be using the ABH Soft Glam AND the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade palettes! I’m super excited because I’ve been enjoying the Soft Glam and haven’t really gotten into the Mini Masquerade yet, so this should be super fun to combine the two together and see what looks I get from them.

I hope you guys have been enjoying this new series as much as I am. Let me know what kind of looks you want to see me (attempt to) do with these palettes. Also, please share your thoughts on the TF Chocolate Gold palette if you have it.

Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
