Hello and happy Friday Eve, Beauties!! Today, I’ll be giving you the deets about two new lipstick releases and letting you know which one is worth the coint.
Thankfully, the whole matte liquid lipstick trend is starting to die down. While I do have a few that I enjoy, I’ve always been more into a different kind of vibe. The two lippies I’ll be comparing today are both liquid lipsticks that have a more glossy finish, which I’m totally into.
The first lipstick I want to share with y’all is the Buxom Va-Va-PLUMP Shiny Liquid Lipstick, $20. I have always enjoyed Buxom’s lip glosses, so I was definitely interested in trying these. I love the applicator on this lippie, since it’s one of the ones with the little dip in the middle that hold a lot of product. I can get full opacity and coverage without having to dip back into the lipstick a million times. The pointed tip of the applicator allows you to line your lips to get precise application, so you don’t have to go in with a separate product.
As this is a plumping lipstick, it definitely has that minty tingly feeling upon application. I didn’t notice much actual plumping going on, but my lips are already pretty full, so that may be why. The lasting power on this is fantastic. Basically, it’s like getting the wear time of a liquid lipstick without the discomfort. The first time I wore this, I didn’t have to reapply at all throughout my day. I just touched it up a tad after I ate lunch. It’s not transfer proof, since it’s not a matte finish, but it’s still going to give you long wear time.
Here’s an image of me wearing the shade I have, Stay The Night (described as a burgandy shade on Ulta’s website):
As you can see, the lippie gives you the coverage of a liquid lipstick with the shine of a gloss.
The other option we have up for discussion today is the Milani Amore Shine Liquid Lipstick, $8.99. Just like with the Buxom lipstick, this is a liquid lipstick with a high gloss finish. Now, I’m not a huge fan of the Amore Matte liquid lipsticks from Milani, so I was a little hesitant about these. I’m happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the more shiny version.
These last just as long on the lips as the Buxom ones do, but I did find that I had to dip back into the product a couple of times to get a full application. It wasn’t streaky or anything like that. You just don’t get a lot of product on the wand, so for my full lips it took a couple of dips. The pointed tip of the applicator allows you to line your lips, so no lip liner needed unless you need to deepen the shade.
Here’s a photo of me wearing one of the shades, Desire (a deep red):
As you can see, the Milani lipstick is just as opaque as it’s more expensive counterpart.
All in all, both of these lipsticks are worth giving a try, in my opinion. Both give great coverage without streaks in the darker shades, which is always awesome. They last long on the lips without making your lips feel weird. They don’t feather or anything in my experience, and they fade really nicely.
Honestly, purchasing either, or both, of these would be money well spent. Both have a wide range of shades from nudes to reds. You really can’t go wrong with either of these, so it really comes down to how much you want to spend.
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried either, or both, of these.
Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
