Hey there, Beauties!! Today, I’ll give you the tea on one of the new Smashbox eye shadow trios.
The Smashbox Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trios are available everywhere Smashbox products are sold, and will run you a smooth $22 each….for three shadows. Anyway, no shade though because I definitely got one, so that’s a thing. If I’m being totally transparent with you guys, I picked up two. I know, I know, but I couldn’t help it. This is the only one I’ve tried, so I’m just going to post a separate review for the other one.
So, I started with the Nudie Pic: Deep trio because of the shade In The Mood, the red brown matte in the top corner. That shade just spoke to me. When I went to use it for the first time, I did some swatches:
Soooo, yeah. The shade I was the most excited about wasn’t as vibrant as I’d wanted it to be. The shadows, all mattes, are a little more dry than I like, but nothing that you can’t work with. So, even though I was less than excited at this point, I went ahead and gave it a go anyway, since swatches don’t tell the whole story.
I didn’t like the look, you guys. I tried to take a pic of the look I did, but you couldn’t see anything on my eyes except for the dark brown shade. In The Mood didn’t build to the depth that I wanted it to, so when I put Vintage in my outer corner and into the crease, I had to go back and rebuild In The Mood because it had blended away. I will say that I do really like the darkest shadow in this trio. It blends and builds nicely.
Since only one of the three shadows (I mean, what can you say about a matte cream shadow?) really impressed me, I’m going to have to say that this specific trio is one to FORGET. After I use the other trio I have, I’ll be able to give you a more through review on what I think of the range.
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried any of the Smashbox trios and what you think of them.
Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
