Hey there, Beauties!! I’ve been using these for a little over a month now, and I definitely have some opinions.
I’ve been on the hunt for some great drugstore skincare that isn’t as expensive as some higher end products. Currently, I’m trying out moisturizers because I ran out of the high end moisturizer I was using. Anyway, I found the products I’ll be discussing at my local grocery store, but I know you can get this brand just about everywhere.
Enough rambling, let’s get into it!
The AM Moisturizing Lotion is a little bit thicker than typical daytime moisturizers that I use, which I’m thinking is because of the SPF in it. It’s SPF 30, by the way. Here are the claims I found on the Ulta website:
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion AM features micronized zinc oxide and broad spectrum sunscreen actives such as homosalate, octinoxate and octocrylene which deflect UVA and UVB rays from the sun and other sources of UV radiation such as your computer screen and fluorescent lights. The ceramide-rich formula provides essential ingredients to maintain a healthy skin barrier. So, while CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion AM with SPF 30 is protecting your skin from the sun, it’s also rebuilding and restoring your skin¿s protective outer lipid layer.Unique, patented MVE delivery technology CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion AM features the patented Multi Vesicular Emulsion or MVE technology. This technology provides a controlled release of skin-nourishing and protective ingredients slowly after 24 hours. MVE allows ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin to moisturize, nourish and protect it…all day long! Elegant Formulation – CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM with SPF 30 applies easily. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and protects your face from sun damage, while never feeling thick or greasy.
Now, let’s look at the details on the PM Moisturizing Lotion.
Facial Moisturizing Lotion by CeraVe provides patented controlled release of ingredients to help repair and restore your skin’s natural protective barrier. Non-comedogenic, non-irritating. With ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. Claims retrieved from the Ulta website.
Since my skin has been extra dry the past few weeks (it was literally 15 degrees and windy one day last week where I live), I’m adding facial oils to my moisturizers in the morning and at night. However, I have used both of these without adding oil to them, just so we’re clear.
The AM moisturizer is a great way to apply your SPF in the morning, especially for people like me that always forget to use a separate one. I find that it isn’t as hydrating as I would like, but it isn’t bad. On days when my skin doesn’t feel super dehydrated, I definitely feel this moisturizer does more for me than on my extra dry days. It does mix well with facial oils, which is great, because sometimes moisturizers can get weird when you add oil to it. I also find that my primers go over it nicely, whether I use a hydrating primer or a pore-minimizer.
The PM moisturizer is the opposite of the AM when it comes to texture. While the daytime moisturizer is a little on the thick side, the evening one is a little more thin in texture than I’m used to. I don’t find my skin to be super dry in the morning after using it on the nights I don’t use my Argan facial oil, but it doesn’t feel as hydrated as I’d like either, if that makes sense. I will say that my skin does look a little more plump and hydrated in the morning, it just doesn’t necessarily feel that way when I use it without any serums or anything like that.
I’m torn when it comes to recommending these, y’all. While I think they’re effective and do their job, I’m not totally blown away by them. I think they’re okay, but not super fantastic. I think that, if you don’t have super dry skin, you may have a better experience than I did.
I’m going to keep trying these and report back if my mind changes about these. Let me know in the comments below if you guys have tried either of these, or if you have an affordable moisturizer you recommend.
Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
