Welcome back, Beauties!! Today’s This or That is another high end versus drugstore situation.
Makeup removing balms and oils are my jam, especially now that my face is so dry. I’m always looking for one that will take my makeup off quickly and leave as little as possible on the skin once I rub it in and rinse it off.
These are both YouTube Made Me Buy It kind of products. I can’t remember who on YouTube I saw talking about the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, $29.50, first. I just know that, out of nowhere, it was in everyone’s monthly favorites videos. I also heard about the Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover, $8.48, on YouTube as well, specifically from Hailey from Beauty News.
You guys, I love this stuff. It’s no secret that I’m hooked. I’m about halfway through my third or fourth tub of it. The Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm removes makeup so quickly and easily. All you do is take some of the balm, rub it into your face, and I swear it does the rest. On days when I have a full on beat, I can count on this stuff to remove my makeup, even down to liquid liner, without clogging my pores, breaking me out, or drying my skin or making it too oily. It’s just awesome, period.

Now, the Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil is totally different than the cleansing balm, obviously. They’re two totally different textures, but I wanted to try something new because, let’s be real, that Clinique is almost $30, so if I can find an inexpensive alternative that works just as well, I’m with it.
Anyway, the Neutrogena Cleansing Oil is definitely ultra light in consistency, which is why it’s awesome there’s a pump on the bottle. I found that, on days where I wore a bit heavier face of makeup, I had to constantly get more products to remove the makeup I had on. Now, on lighter makeup days, this stuff is PERFECT for removing makeup!
So, which of these do I recommend? I think it really depends on how much makeup you wear on a daily basis. If you typically wear a full face of makeup, I think that the Clinique balm will work better for you. If you’re more of a light makeup kinda girl or guy, the Neutrogena oil is gonna be best for you, in my opinion. I guess this one is a draw lol.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried either of these makeup removers and which you like more.
Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
