This or That?: Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder or Too Faced Ethereal Setting Powder

Hello and welcome back, Beauties! Today’s This or That features two loose powders that I’ve been alternating between for a while now.

I go through phases with loose powders. Sometimes, I’m totally into them, and other times I can do without them entirely. I’m currently into them, so I’ve been testing out two that have been getting a lot of hype since their release, the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, $7.99, and the Too Faced Ethereal Loose Setting Powder, $32. Since doing dedicated reviews on setting powders didn’t exactly appeal to me, I figured I could put the two powders up against each other and let you know which I would recommend over the other.

Now that I’ve totally rambled forever, let’s get into it!

Let’s start with the high end product first. The Too Faced Ethereal Loose Setting Powder has the following claims:

Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder provides a veil of perfecting luminosity for a finish so natural, they’ll think you were Born This Way.

  • Universal shade complements all skin tones

  • Coconut water helps delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels

  • Alpine rose helps brighten and boost skin’s radiance

  • Hyaluronic acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance, Too Faced Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder provides a veil of perfecting luminosity for a finish so natural, they’ll think you were Born This Way.

Now, I definitely agree with the claim that the shade of the powder is pretty universal. On my deep skintone, I find that it doesn’t make me ashy or super pale when I use it. It doesn’t make my under eye area look dry or cakey when I use it, and it definitely brightens under my eyes. It’s super soft and finely milled, so you can bake with it if that’s what you’re into without using too much. I also find that it gives my face a filtered look when I use it on the areas I have larger, more pronounced pores.

As a whole, I think that this is a pretty great loose powder but it’s a little on the pricey side at $32.

The Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder took a lot of people by surprise when it came out, since the drugstore isn’t really known for having great loose setting powders. Let’s take a look at the claims:

Start Fit. Finish strong. Now Fit happens from start to finish! This Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder is available in a collection of shades to fit any skin tone.

  • Provides the perfect finishing touch to your makeup base

  • Mineral-based formula helps to control shine and smooth skin’s texture

  • Helps keep foundation set

  • Gives a sheer hint of color

This powder is pretty dope, I must say. It comes in eight shades, unlike the Too Faced powder, so you can get the perfect shade for your skintone and one a little lighter if you’re looking for something to brighten your under eye with. I agree that it controls shine like a dream and keeps foundation locked in place. It claims to give a sheer hint of color, but I find that it gives a little bit more color than that. It doesn’t give enough color to alter the shade of your foundation in a crazy way, but it definitely adds a bit more than sheer color over foundation. Just like the Too Faced powder, the Maybelline Fit Me powder blurs pores and gives your skin a perfected look. I do find that it can look a tad bit dry under the eyes if you use too much, but nothing that can’t be fixed by being careful with how much you apply.

So, which powder would I recommend out of the two? Honestly, I think they’re both pretty fantastic. I’ve used them both for quite some time, and legit like them both. If I HAD to choose one to recommend to you, I’d say the Maybelline Fit Me powder since it comes in so many different shades.

I hope this post was helpful. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried either, or both, of these powders and what you think of them.

Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
