Hey there, Beauties! I know that December in the blogging world typically means participation in Blogmas. Well, I’m not doing it, and I’ll tell you why.
It’s that time of year again in the content creating world where creators provide immense amounts of content. Here in the blogosphere, it’s called Blogmas, which is basically posting a blog every single day in the month of December. A lot of YouTube creators do the same thing and call it Vlogmas. Same concept, different medium. I’m totally in support of this kind of thing, but I just can’t do it.
As a creator that already posts Monday thru Friday every single week, I kind of look forward to the weekend. Not because posting every weekday is a burden for me, because I chose my posting schedule and reserve the right to change that should I feel the need, but it’s daunting sometimes to create that much content regularly. To add those two days a week would burn me out, and I would hate to reach the point where I find stress in something that currently brings me so much joy. I typically am more active on my blog socials over the weekends, as well as doing my adulting and chores and such.
Another thing that has me passing on Blogmas this year is that I don’t have THAT much to talk about, if I’m being completely transparent with you. My ‘real’ life is pretty boring and standard, so I don’t think you guys would be interested in the things I would likely write about during Blogmas just to fill the days. Plus, I only have one face, so I can only try out so many products at a time. I like to take minimum a week to test out a product before I write about it. The urgency to post every single day would make me rush through things just to get the review up. It’s just too much for me. I never want to create filler content, you know? Every post I create has a purpose, so I will never just throw something up to have something on the site that day. I would rather just not post than give you guys subpar content.
While I’m personally not participating in Blogmas, I definitely think it’s important to support other creators that are doing it. I think Blogmas is a great way to get to know more about the creators behind the blogs you read, especially when they post blogs about things other than beauty products, like fashion and lifestyle and such. Like I said, I’m pretty square, so I don’t know how much alternative content I could give you guys. Plus, what happens if you love the alternate content more? Then, I’m shifting my post mapping and all these other things that I just am not into currently.
Could this change next year? Of course it can. Nothing is set in stone. All I know is that, right now, it’s not my vibe.
Are you participating in Blogmas/Vlogmas on your outlet? Let me know in the comments below so we can all check you out.
Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
