Get It or Forget It?: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Hello there, Beauties!! I put this foundation to the test, and am finally ready to give you guys my thoughts on the Estee Lauder Double Wear.

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (aka foundation), $42, is most definitely a cult classic. Ever since it came out a while ago, it’s been all over the internet as everyone’s ‘new holy grail’ and all that jazz. Well, as someone that hasn’t always had the best relationship with liquid foundation (we’ve discussed this at length, you and I), I wasn’t interested for a hot minute. I finally gave in and purchased it months ago, but still didn’t finally give it a go until recently.

Before we get into too many more details on my experience with the product, here are the details from the Ulta website:

Proven 24-hour staying power. The same long-wear makeup you love, now proven to last even longer. Looks flawless and natural. Feels lightweight and so comfortable, you won’t believe it’s super long wear. Won’t change color, smudge or come off on clothes. Lasts through heat and humidity.

Oil-free. Oil-Controlling. Dermatologist-tested. Non-acnegenic; won’t clog pores. Fragrance-free.

Medium to full coverage. Matte finish. Proven 24 hour wear.

Now that we know the claims, let’s break them down. I definitely agree that the foundation felt weightless on my skin. I barely knew I had it on unless I looked in the mirror. This brings me to the next claim that it is long-lasting and looks flawless all day. Yep, it does that too. Although my skin is more normal to dry these days, I always check to see if I need a touchup or anything. With this, I didn’t need to. My makeup looked bomb from beginning of day to the end. The coverage is definitely medium to full with a matte finish, and it didn’t break me out.

These are the looks I created last week, and every time I had this foundation on. As I hope you can tell in the photos, the Double Wear just smoothed everything out and gave me great coverage without looking heavy or cakey on the skin. The lasting power is really quite amazing.

My main gripe with the foundation is that there isn’t a pump on the bottle. I know that’s petty in the grand scheme of things, since the product in the bottle is what’s important, but damn. For over $40, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect there to be a pump on the bottle since I can get that from much more reasonably priced products.

So, what’s my verdict, you may ask, when it comes to the Estee Lauder Double Wear?

You guys, GET IT!! The shade range is pretty fantastic, and the foundation is just bomb af. I definitely recommend it to those of you with oily skin that are looking for a long-lasting foundation that is going to look seamless and natural on the skin. However, I think it will be lovely on those of you with more normal to dry skin as well, as long as you moisturize well and prime with a hydrating primer. Although it didn’t make my skin feel dry and tight, I can see how it could happen if you do have much more dry skin than I do.

So, have you guys tried the Double Wear? Did you love it or hate it? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
