Regular Girl Supporter Shoutouts, Vol. 2

Hello there, Beauties!! It’s Friday, so you know what that means. It’s time for my round of Supporter Shoutouts. This week’s Beauties are all ladies that have a special place in my heart because they’re a huge part of the birth of this blog.

The ladies I’m featuring today are all women I’ve known for a long time in one way or another, and they’ve each had a huge impact on my life. I’m gonna try not to get super mushy today, but I’m not making any promises.

My sweet girl Mona. I met her a few years ago while working at the Aveda Institute. I did Financial Aid and she worked in the retail department. From the moment I met her, I knew there was something special about her. She’s got this energy that I can’t really explain. Mona is integral in the creation of this blog because she was one of the first people to really encourage me to do it. She never let me think that my lack of makeup knowledge was a hindrance to my ability to discuss it. She tags me on upcoming releases and always shows support of the blog on social media. Plus, she’s truly the person that taught me how to slay my brows, so if I don’t owe her for anything else, I definitely owe her for that. I just love her.

Vee is someone that I’ve known for almost ten years I think. She’s supported me throughout some of the best times of my life, and also a lot of the worst. We first met on Twitter when she was looking for writers for her entertainment blog. Once I started working with her, we created a bond that became so much more than friendship. Some of the biggest interviews of my career came to be because of her. So, when it came time for me to start my blog, Vee really pushed me to get out of my own head and trust in my talent. She also helped me track my analytics and decipher what views truly means, and she promotes the blog heavy, which she totally doesn’t have to do. I could go on and on about her, but I told y’all I wasn’t gonna get mushy, so I’ll just end with this: She’s the closest thing to a sister I have, and I’ll always love her for having my back in whatever I decide to do with my life.

Lena Chase is a model that I met years ago. She was a guest on my first radio show, and I was immediately drawn to her. Not because of her looks, although she is truly one of the most stunning women I have ever laid eyes on. There is something about her internally, spiritually, that literally pulled me in. Ever since, we would see each other out and about and always had such a great interaction. When I decided to this blog, I sent her a message asking what she thought about the idea, and her words resonated with me in a way that etched them into my brain. She told me that the beaut community needs more women like me to talk about beauty in a way that’s representative of Women of Color. I hadn’t even considered that until she said it, and haven’t forgotten it since. Every day when I sit down to write a post, I hear those words and it pushes me to create something that will be a true representation of us. Lena’s heart shines through in all she does, and that’s just one of the reasons that I will ALWAYS support her.

This girl right here is the whole reason The Regular Girl Reviews exists, and I’ll tell you why. Kim and I do a radio show together, and would always talk about and swap makeup. She didn’t really know much about it, so she would ask me questions about what makeup and skincare products I thought were good and all that jazz. You know, typical conversations regular girls have with their friends. Well, one day she told me that she wished there was a place where she could learn about makeup in a way that wasn’t as extra as YouTube can be, and hear the information from an everyday person like her. I sat there for a minute and finally agreed that that was needed, after suggesting some of the YT channels I enjoy watching. That’s when it clicked for me. All of the conversations Kim and I have had, and continue to have, brought The Regular Girl Reviews to life. When I tell you guys that I want you to feel like you’re talking to a friend when you read my posts, it’s because every word I write I picture myself talking to Kim and my other friends about whatever product or topic I’m sharing with you. Kim is legit amazing, and I truly appreciate her presence in my life.

These ladies are all such amazing women that it would take me hours to share all of their attributes with you. Just know that I rock with them heavy and will love them forever.

Don’t forget that I pick different supporters every week to feature here, so make sure you’re following me on my socials and commenting there and here on the blog to be in an upcoming post. Just search ‘The Regular Girl Reviews’ on Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter and you’ll find me 🙂

Until next time, Beauties!! xoxo
