Hey there, beauties!! I saw this tag while checking out Teresa’s Big Opinion and figured I’d give it a go.
Teresa posted this Beauty Blogger Tag post yesterday, so go over to her blog and check it out! Her blog is a new favorite of mine to read, so I definitely recommend checking her out if you haven’t already.
Now that we’ve got the pleasantries taken care of, let’s get into the tag!!
1. What is the one thing you couldn’t go without?
Brow products. Even on days when I am not in the mood to put on any other makeup, I will make it my business to fill in my brows.
2. Favorite makeup brand
3. Who is your style inspiration?
I’m not really the most stylish person out there. I’m pretty much a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. When I do have to get a little more fancy, like for work or an event, I guess I’d say I model my clothing selection after my mother. She was one of the most stylish people I ever knew. Her hair, makeup and clothes were always on point.
4. Do you remember the first makeup item you purchased?
I believe the very first makeup product I ever purchased was from the beauty supply store when I was 16, and it was a lipstick. I couldn’t tell you the brand, but I definitely know it was a gold lipstick, because that was the in thing in the 90’s. I also purchased a clear gloss and brown liner that day to complete the look.
5. Who is your favorite beauty blogger or YouTuber?
I like so many YouTubers that it’s impossible to pick just one. I love so many, and for varying reasons. I love to watch livloveshermakeup, Georgia Harris and MakeupStruggles because they each represent a facet of my personality that makes them feel like the besties I never had. Beauty News gives me all of the new release tea that I need with the commentary I love. Those are always the channels I recommend the most, along with Tifjef069. I’ve featured all of these channels, with the exceptions of Tif and Georgia, in my YouTuber of the Week series. Don’t worry, Tif and Georgia are definitely coming soon!
6. What are your top 5 makeup brands?
7. What is your top beauty tip?
Wow, this is tricky because I’m the farthest thing from a makeup artist. However, if I had to give anyone the best makeup tip I could, it would be to do what feels good for you. Makeup is so personal, and everyone has their own taste. Don’t feel like you have to do what Instagram or YouTube tells you is the ‘in’ thing to do. If you like spider lashes and clown cheeks, do you, babygirl, and rock it with confidence!!
8. Why did you start blogging?
I’ve been a writer for my whole life. Ever since I was a child, I could always be found with a pencil and paper either in my hand or close by. I’ve been blogging ‘professionally’, if you want to call it that, off and on for about ten years, but blogging about beauty is new for me.
I started this blog a month ago because I found a part of the market that I felt wasn’t being covered in the way I thought it should be. Not only are regular girls like myself not really represented on the larger scale like they should be, but especially Women of Color. So often, our opinions on makeup are overlooked by the masses in one way or another, and I felt like I could be one of the people to change that at some point.
9. Random fact about yourself.
I am a snack junkie. I could literally eat chips and candy for just about the entire day with no hesitation or desire for anything else. Give me some cupcakes and cheesecake, and I’m a happy girl.
10. How much do you spend on beauty products every month?
Honestly, I couldn’t tell you. and if I’m being 100% transparent with you, I don’t necessarily want to know.
11. Describe your dream makeup haul.
A day at Ulta and Sephora and another day purchasing Indie makeup with about $5000 to spend just grabbing up everything I’ve had my eye on.
Okay, my beauties! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed answering! If you’re reading this, consider yourself tagged. I posted the link to Teresa’s post earlier, and would love for you guys to answer and leave your links in the comments.
