Anti Haul: Holiday 2017 Releases Edition

anti haul.jpg

This year, there are so many holiday makeup releases either already available or about to come out, that I’m going a bit nuts trying to keep up. Keep reading to see what I’m not giving my coins up for and why.

Now, for those of you that may be unfamiliar with the term and premise, let me break it down for you real quick. The person credited with starting the craze of anti-hauling is a YouTuber named Kimberly Clark. She started doing the anti-haul videos as a way to combat consumerism in the beauty community by reminding people that you don’t really HAVE to buy every single thing you see promoted on YouTube, online, etc. Go over to her channel and check out her anti-hauls. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Now that you kind of know where this whole anti-haul thing started, let’s get into the list of things I’m not gonna buy.

Kat Von D Saint and Sinner palette, $62

Let me start by saying that the packaging of this palette is stunning. If you’re a collector, I can totally get why you would buy this. KVD always kills it with the packaging, and her shadows are really nice. However, I’m not gonna buy this because it overwhelms me. The color story just seems super disjointed to me. I get that the colors are arranged to simulate the stained glass you see in cathedrals and everything, but I just can’t focus on making a look with this because the colors are just everywhere.

Too Faced Best Year Ever Makeup Collection, $49

I just don’t get into the Too Faced holiday sets. The shadows are notoriously inconsistent in their holiday palettes. There are two more sets in this holiday collection that come with planners, which doesn’t make any sense to me AT ALL. There’s a picture of one of those sets below, and I’m not getting that either. I just can’t get with Too Faced and their foolishness.Too-Faced-Boss-Lady-Beauty-Agenda.jpg

Tarte Magic Star Collector’s Set, $49 and Treasure Box Collector’s Set, $59

You guys know that I LOVE Tarte eyeshadows. They were the Brand of the Week here on the blog on Monday, so I definitely have a love for them. However, I’m passing on both of these sets. First of all, because I have tons of other shadows from Tarte and other brands in these colors. Secondly, I’m not a huge fan of their liquid lipsticks or mascara, both of which you get in these sets. Lastly, I just don’t need them.

Stila Star-Studded Eight Stay-All-Day Liquid Lipstick Set, $45

I’m not buying this because, simply put, I already have 15602649743 lip products. Like, I just have too many as it is, so I’m not going to invest in eight more that I probably will never use. I also think lip vaults as a whole are a little bit of a money trap. Think about it. You’re never going to get through all of those lip products, and every single shade isn’t going to be something you love, so why throw all that money down the toilet? I’d rather buy one or two lipsticks I know that I will use and love.

Okay folks, that’s my Holiday 2017 Anti-Haul! What holiday releases are you passing on this year? Let me know in the comments below or tag me on Instagram (@theregulargirlreviews). Also let me know if you’d be interested in seeing a part 2 to this, because there are a ton of releases that I didn’t even touch on in this post.
