Brand of the Week: Maybelline

To kick off Drugstore Week, I wanted to feature the first drugstore brand I fell in love with. As I went through my collection in preparation for Drugstore Week, I found that almost all of my favorite drugstore products are from Maybelline, so it was a no brainer to feature them first. Let’s get into some of my holy grails!

Ever since I started wearing makeup, even when I was only wearing lipstick and mascara, Maybelline has been a staple in my collection. From base products to highlighters, Maybelline has always had something that I can’t do without. Here are just a few of my faves.

Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation, $7.99 (Price can vary depending on where you purchase)

With 40 shades currently in the range, the Maybelline Fit Me! foundation has one of the most inclusive shade ranges at the drugstore. The Matte + Poreless gives medium coverage upon initial application, but can be built up to a high medium or full coverage if that’s what you’re looking for. This foundation never irritates my skin (some liquid foundations, for whatever reason, make my face feel itchy) and lasts on my oily skin without breaking down for an entire 8 hour workday. My only gripe with this foundation is that the bottle doesn’t have a pump. I can live without having the pump because the foundation works so well for me. For my dry skin lovelies, there is a dewy foundation in the line as well in just as many shades as the matte version. For reference, I wear 340 Cappuccino.

Fit Me Concealer, $6.49 (Pricing can vary depending on where you purchase)

This is my holy grail concealer, high end or drugstore. It gives me natural-looking coverage without drying out my under eye. I do have hereditary dark circles, and have found that this covers them pretty well, especially if I color correct prior to using it. There are only six shades in the range, which kind of sucks, but I definitely think it’s worth buying if you can find a shade that works for you. I use Medium when I want to do some highlighting and Deep when I’m just looking to cover up my bags. All in all, I would recommend this for those of you that like a natural finish to your concealer and find more full coverage concealers too heavy.

Volum’ Express Colossal Big Shot Mascara, $8.49 (Price may vary depending on where you purchase)

I’ve been a fan of Maybelline mascaras for years. This one is definitely one of my favorites they’ve come out with. It is called volume express for a reason. This mascara makes my lashes look like I’m wearing falsies, and I’m here for that. One layer will give you so much volume that you don’t even need a second coat or to apply an additional mascara to get your desired results. There is nothing negative I can say about this one. If you haven’t tried it, definitely go out and give it a go.

Maybelline lip products are, in my humble opinion, the best lippies from the drugstore. They have a huge range of shades and finishes, so whether you’re into nudes or the nost bold of colors, you’ll find something you love in their range. Their matte bullet lipsticks are comfortable and nondrying, and their glosses last a long time without being super sticky. I have so many favorites from each line that it would take all day to tell you about all of the ones I love. My favorite finish is their matte collection, but I really like every finish I’ve tried.
