#TRGR Battle of the Highlighters

In today’s battle, we’re going to compare some of the highlighters in my collection and see which one comes out on top.

Today’s contestants in the battle are a combination of high end and drugstore. We’ve got Becca’s Champagne Pop, Essence’s Pure Nude, Wet and Wild’s Precious Petals and Lancome’s Sparkling Peche.

Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed, $38

We’ve discussed how much I love Becca’s Shimmering Perfecter Pressed formula when I did my brand review of Becca Cosmetics, so I’m just going to reiterate how awesome this formula is. It isn’t full of chunky glitter and doesn’t emphasize the texture you may have in an insane way.

Essence Pure Nude Be My Highlight, $4.49

This highlighter caught me by surprise. Based on the lightness of the powder, I anticipated it looking super ashy on my deep skin. I found that the opposite actually happened. I don’t go in super crazy with ANY highlighter, because we all know that can go all the way wrong, and I found that applying it in light layers gives me varying levels of intensity depending on the look I’m going for. And, at less than $5, it’s definitely worth a go if you’re into a more subtle highlight like I am for everyday wear.

Lancome Dual Finish Highlighter in Sparkling Peche, $39.50

These highlighters from Lancome are pretty fantastic. This is newer to my collection, but I’ve found myself using it almost every day. It applies similarly to the Becca highlighters, in my opinion, meaning there isn’t a bunch of chunky glitter in it. I will say that these do emphasize my texture slightly more than the Becca highlighters do, but not in such a way that I’m deterred from wearing it. I’ve found that if I have used a pore-filling primer and a good powder on my face prior to application, the highlighter looks lovely.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter in Precious Petals, $4.99

Wet n Wild really shook things up when they first launched the MegaGlo highlighters last year. For the first time, you could get a highlighter just as good, if not better, than some higher end ones. They recently expanded the line, so there are more shades available for more skin tones. Precious Petals, shown above, was one of the first two that were released in the line. The baked gelee formula makes these apply super smooth, and gives them an almost wet feeling to the touch. Don’t let the price tag fool you. These highlighters will give you that extra-terrestrial kind of glow that some high end highlighters lack.

So, who wins today’s battle? This one was hard, because I genuinely like each and every one of these highlighters. But, if I am forced to declare a winner, I’m going to have to give it to the Becca highlighters. They just speak to me in a way that the rest of these don’t, and are the most present in my collection. I can be subtle or blinding with the Becca highlighters, and I enjoy the options that gives me.

Well, folks, that does it for today’s Makeup Battle. What kind of products would you guys like to see in the next battle? Leave a comment here or on Instagram (@theregulargirlreviews) or you can tweet e (@theregulargirl1).
