Thank You, Rihanna, for Thinking of ALL of Us

Rihanna released her makeup line, Fenty Beauty, last week, and it’s pretty much everything. She released a foundation, primer, highlighters, cream contour and highlighting sticks, and a lip gloss. The foundation has forty shades. FORTY!! You guys, do you get how monumental that is?! She made it her business to be inclusive of ALL people that wear makeup, and I love her for that.

I mean, seriously. LOOK AT THIS RANGE!!!! Whether you see your exact shade or not, you have to appreciate the work Rihanna put into her line to do what so few others are doing, and that’s be inclusive. For so many years, we have heard from various makeup lines, from high end to drugstore and Indie, that they do not make deeper shades because, in the most simple terms, Black women don’t wear makeup. Well, Fenty Beauty clearly dispelled that method of thinking, because the deeper shades of her foundation are selling out EVERYWHERE!! According to interviews she did on the red carpet at her launch event, Rihanna stated that inclusivity was the most important thing for her. She said that she wanted to do her best to make sure anyone that wanted to wear her products would have a shade that matched them. Y’all, I live.

Rihanna, I just want to take this time to say thank you. Thank you for thinking of the brown girls that, for so long, have been an afterthought in the beauty industry. Thank you for not allowing trends and past history to dictate the products you released to the world. Thank you for showing the industry that, if they make it, we will support it. Thank you for reminding the world that we deserve.
